— Our History —
The foundation for Apogee Therapy Center dates back to 34 years ago. Jeff Carter and his wife, Sharon, had a dream of establishing an integrated multidisciplinary healthcare facility that was creative, cutting edge, patient-centered, and honored God in the process.
During the years following his graduation from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Jeff practiced physical therapy in myriad settings. All along, Jeff kept dreaming and learning from the vast exposure to the world of therapy. He worked in urban, suburban, and rural locations and met incredible people. He continued to develop his skills by taking over 50 continuing education courses resulting in his advanced manual therapy skills.
Jeff completed his MBA in 2007 with an emphasis in entrepreneurial leadership and management. It was during his MBA training that he developed a business plan to begin the creation of Apogee Therapy Center.
By 2012, Jeff had been a regional manager of a national rehab company, a site leader manager of 8 different PT clinics, a consultant, and held key positions at 2 major rehabilitation companies. Jeff treated patients all over the greater Grand Rapids region, including locations in: Kentwood, Byron Center, Wyoming, Jenison, Walker, Cutlerville, Rockford, Hudsonville, Grandville, Caledonia, Lowell, and Wayland.
Once their oldest three children had completed college and began their careers, Jeff and Sharon believed it was time to launch Apogee Therapy Center.
Sharon is an RDN / LDN who specializes in Functional Medicine / Integrative Health Nutrition (FMIHN). Jeff’s passion for studying and integrating Functional Medicine into the Apogee culture, along with Sharon’s expertise, enabled Apogee Therapy Center to establish a foundation in the FMIHN Model.
In 2014, David Carter, Jeff and Sharon’s oldest son received his doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Michigan. David joined Team Apogee that year. In 2016, David opened Apogee Therapy Center in Greer, South Carolina.
David has done an outstanding job, and in June 2019, he expanded and relocated our facility to Greenville, South Carolina. David’s reach to the surrounding communities include: Spartanburg, Traveler’s Rest, Mauldin, Powdersville, Greer and Taylor’s. Patients from all over the greater Greenville region have traveled to be treated at Apogee by David.
Apogee has been well received in both West Michigan and in Greenville S.C. We are happy to report that over 800 doctors have referred their patients to Apogee and our patients have graciously shown their appreciation by writing over 500 five star online reviews. Apogee is extremely active in the community both in West Michigan and in Greenville and Spartanburg, South Carolina and we are committed to give back to the communities we service.
Apogee is looking forward to the future and is seeking to expand its history and grow its programs in Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Nutrition Therapy and Massage Therapy. The team at Apogee gives thanks to God for the opportunity to serve their community to the best of their ability, and to attempt to always honor God in the process.
